Schroders global REIT to wind down as small size weighs

Taken over by new team in 2014

The directors of the Schroder Global Real Estate Securities investment trust have chosen to wind down the vehicle, just over a year after it was taken over by Schroders Real Estate Investment Management, under Tom Walker and Hugo Machin.

In a statement, the directors of the £64m trust said the portfolio is not viable to run at its current size, despite strong performance since it was taken over by its current team. Walker and Machin joined Schroders in July 2014 from AMP Capital, along with two other analysts, marking the firm's push into the global real estate arena. The duo continue to manage the £607m Global Property Securities and the £61m Global Property Income Maximiser funds, as well as the offshore ISF Global Property Securities fund.
