OMGI to launch UCITS long/short UK small and mid cap fund

Old Mutual Global Investors is set to launch a long/short UCITS fund investing in UK mid and small caps for managers Tim Service and Luke Kerr.

The Old Mutual UK Specialist Equity fund, which is being launched in response to client demand, will be a mirror of an existing Cayman-domiciled strategy launched in 2003.  Structured as a UCITS vehicle, the fund is due to launch on 28 April, subject to regulatory approval. Its aim is to achieve capital appreciation by taking 80-100 long and short UK equity positions, primarily in mid- and small-cap companies, and delivering absolute returns in all market conditions.
