As the Queen celebrates her 90th birthday today, the AIC takes a look at the stories behind some of the oldest investment trusts.

Almost 10% of conventional (investment companies which issue only one class of ordinary share) AIC member trusts are 90 years old or more, including the Finsbury Growth & Income and Temple Bar trusts, which were both launched in 1926 - the year Queen Elizabeth II was born. The Finsbury Growth & Income trust, which is today managed by Nick Train, was launched in January 1926 as the Scottish Cities investment trust.
