Nikko Asset Management has launched a Luxembourg-domiciled UCITS Japanese equity fund, mirroring a Japan-domiciled strategy that has been run by senior fund manager Yuki Watanabe since August 2012.
The Nikko AM Japan Focus Equity fund aims to achieve long-term capital growth by investing in a portfolio of 30 to 50 Japanese companies. It follows the launch of the Nikko Asia ex-Japan UCITS fund in September last year, and forms part of the company's wider plan to expand its range of funds available to European investors, with further launches planned in 2016.
