Ex-Aberdeen distribution head Brett becomes CEO of Anderson Strathern AM

Will oversee firm's 'next phase of growth'

Edinburgh-based Anderson Strathern Asset Management has hired John Brett, formerly head of global distribution at Aberdeen Asset Management, as its chief executive.

Brett (pictured) is taking on the role as the firm enters its 'next phase of growth' and will oversee the company's strategy, team management and operations. His appointment follows the departure of previous CEO, Alec Stewart, who will be joining Thorntons Investments in the role of investment director and partner in Thorntons Law LLP. Most recently, Brett held a non-executive role with Aberdeen Asset Management's Life and Pensions business, having stepped down from his role as global head of distribution at the end of 2015.
