Principal Global Investors has appointed Tim Stumpff as chief executive in Europe, replacing Nick Lyster who moves to a newly-created role focusing on wealth management.

Lyster has assumed the role of global head of wealth advisory services which will see him responsible for delivering the firm's investment capabilities to global wealth managers. He was previously European chief executive of the firm for ten years, during which time the European business grew to £13bn in assets under management. Stumpff joined Principal Financial Group in 2003 and has worked in various leadership roles including leading the corporate capital markets group and as part of the senior management in the firm's heathcare business.
