RWC appoints US advisory firm RiceHadleyGates to strengthen geopolitical risk research analysis

'Deep understanding' of EM political challenges

RWC Partners' emerging markets team has hired an advisory firm led by former US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice to gain insights on geopolitical risk within the region, and reinforce the managers' top-down views.

While the team, headed up by Miami-based John Malloy and James Johnstone, remain bottom-up stockpickers, they said their investment process also analyses macro and geopolitical themes, so investing in further resources in this area was a natural extension of their process. The team previously worked with RiceHadleyGates (RHG), the advisory firm led by Rice (pictured), as well as former US Secretary of Defense Robert Gates, former national security advisor Stephen Hadley and former State department official Anja Manuel, at their previous firm Everest Capital and were keen to reinstate the...
