Invesco Perpetual's Barnett warns UK equity re-rating 'unlikely to continue unchecked'

UK equity market faces 'several challenges'

Invesco Perpetual's Mark Barnett, manager of the £1.6bn Edinburgh Investment Trust, has highlighted a number of challenges faced by the UK equity market which may force "a reassessment of the current valuations".

In the trust's half-year report released today, the manager (pictured) and deputy manager, James Goldstone, told shareholders there has already been evidence of these obstacles emerging at a time when valuations are looking full. They said: "It is noticeable how the rate of profit warnings across the market has increased in the past few weeks. In addition, the recent reversal of bond markets has put pressure on valuations in certain sectors.
