Many British business leaders have benefitted from a "Brexit boom" over the past year, according to The Sunday Times Rich List 2017, which reveals record wealth and more billionaires than ever before.
According to The Sunday Times Rich List, the UK's 1,000 wealthiest individuals and families have seen their combined fortunes jump 14%, or £83bn, to £658bn over the past year. They have benefitted from buoyant stockmarkets and a weaker pound since the Brexit vote, which has boosted the sterling value of their overseas investments. Among the beneficiaries has been Peter Hargreaves, who gave £3.2m to the leave campaign in last year's EU referendum; the largest individual donation.
