Woodford's flagship fund tops sector as it hits three-year anniversary

Neil Woodford's Equity Income fund has been ranked the top-performing fund in the IA UK Equity income sector over three years, after it reached the milestone track record at the end of last week.

The fund, which was launched on 2 June 2014, is the number one fund in the IA UK Equity Income sector over three years, returning 38.9% over three years to 5 June, according to FE, versus returns of 26.6% by the sector.  It has also outperformed its benchmark, the FTSE All-Share index, which has returned 25.8% over the same period. However, the performance has suffered more recently with the fund ranked fourth quartile over one year, returning 14.1% versus returns by the sector of 19.1%, while the All-Share returned 24.9%.
