MSCI: Korea records best regional equity performance in May

Korea's equity market was the best monthly performer in May, according to MSCI's monthly index report, strengthening its position as the best performing region year-to-date.

The region returned 8.1% for the month, extending its YTD performance to 27.6%, and was followed by Switzerland and France with returns of 5.6% and 5.2% respectively. Meanwhile, Australia was the worst market performer in May with losses of -3.9%, and was joined by Canada, which lost -0.2% as the only regions with negative performance. Its May performance sees Australia fall below the US as the second worst performer year-to-date, up 5.9%, but keeps it above Canada, which is up by just 0.4%.
