M&G chief Richards urges political parties to join forces for Brexit talks

'Business should be more involved in government'

Anne Richards, chief executive officer of M&G, and other City figures have urged the UK government to remove party political barriers and draw upon "all the talents" as it prepares to negotiate Brexit.

The City of London leaders, which include HSBC chairman Douglas Flint and Lord Mervyn Davies, have said the government would be best served with "a negotiating team made up of the best talents". Richards (pictured) said: "[The government should] put narrow party politics to one side," while Lord Davies, former banker and trade minister, said "calmness, teamwork and consensus-building" were essential.
