ETF Snapshot: US equities and high yield continue to suffer outflows

Investors turn to investment grade bonds

US large-cap equity ETFs and developed high yield bond products recorded significant outflows over the two weeks to 18 August, according to data from TrackInsight.

Flows into US large-cap stock ETFs have been volatile, with inflows of €1.3bn during week ending 4 August cancelling out €1bn of outflows the week before. During the two weeks to 18 August, the asset class suffered total outflows of €2.9bn, with €824m coming out during the second week.   The continued outflows have largely been driven by geopolitical tensions between the US and North Korea, and their impact on President Donald Trump's ability to push his reforms through Congress, though they have continued despite tensions subsiding.
