BMO Global Asset Management's multi-manager team has found only nine funds in the 12 major Investment Association sectors have consistently delivered top-quartile returns over the last three years to the end of Q3 2017.
According to a Q3 quarterly FundWatch survey conducted by BMO GAM multi-manager team, headed up by Rob Burdett and Gary Potter, only 0.8% of funds managed to achieve consistent top-quartile returns. This equated to nine out of 1,129 funds, down from 14, or 1.2%, in the second quarter. Compared to a year ago, the percentage of funds achieving top-quartile returns in Q3 2016 was 2.5%. IA Global Bond was the most accomplished sector with 2.5% of funds in that sector achieving top-quartile returns.
