Thesis AM sparks acquisition trail as it snaps up Cambridge Fund Managers

Plans further acquisitions of smaller DFMs

Thesis Asset Management is set to acquire Cambridge Fund Managers in the first purchase of a wider acquisition strategy, which sees the firm take advantage of added regulatory pressures, such as MiFID II, that can be more burdensome for smaller players.

The purchase of Bath-based discretionary manager CFM, which is set for completion by 31 December, will see Thesis take on an additional £30m in AUM and around 80 new potential clients. Thesis AM hires duo for investment management team Director of marketing and business development at Thesis Lawrence Cook said the firm is "keen to explore further opportunities where smaller DFMs are considering their options, particularly as the regulatory burden increases with the likes of MiFID II and GDPR".
