Stewart Investors re-opens Indian Subcontinent fund to new investment

Stewart Investors has re-opened its Indian Subcontinent fund, five years after soft-closing it to new investment.

The firm imposed a 4% upfront charge on the fund, which is managed by David Gait (pictured) and Sashi Reddy, in January 2012 amid concerns that "the fund would grow too large and dilute the quality of companies held in it". However, the size of the Indian stockmarket has doubled in the time since the soft-closure due to new listings and strong performance. This has meant the investment universe available to the fund has grown substantially.
