River & Mercantile has appointed former Aviva Investors chairman John Misselbrook as chair of its newly-formed risk committee, after the firm was subject to a probe by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).
Misselbrook, who joined the firm on 16 February, will be a non-executive director at the firm and chair the risk committee. He was formerly chairman of the Aviva Investors board from January 2014 until he stepped down in October 2017 and was replaced by Mike Craston. He also spent 11 years as chief operating officer for Baring Asset Management. The committee was previously known as the Audit & Risk Committee but has since been split into two distinct parts, with the audit part chaired by Angela Crawford-Ingle.
