IA stats: GEM funds see strong sales in April while UK Equity Income returns to inflows

UK funds saw stronger performance

Global emerging markets funds saw a jump in net retail sales during April, according to the Investment Association, while the UK Equity Income sector has returned to inflows after ten months of outflows.

According to April statistics, global emerging market (GEM) funds saw net retail sales of £267m during the month. This compares to outflows of £40m in the previous month and is the largest monthly inflow for the sector over the past year.  The move sees the GEM sector jump from 30th most-popular sector in March to fourth.  Global emerging markets bond funds also saw inflows of £68m, up from £23m in March.  Alastair Wainwright, fund market specialist at the Investment Association, said: "Although not the best-selling sector, it was notable that the Global Emerging Markets sector att...
