BlackRock launches absolute return fund focusing on 'emerging' UK companies

BlackRock has today unveiled a long-short absolute return equity fund investing in UK companies at the early stage of their life cycle and/or those expecting to experience significant growth, Investment Week can reveal.

The BlackRock Strategic Funds (BSF) UK Emerging Companies Absolute Return fund will invest in small-, mid- and large-cap companies based in the UK that it considers 'emerging', while also having the remit to invest in international names. BlackRock targets cautious investors with Global Conservative Income fund It will be run by lead manager Dan Whitestone, who will be  supported by portfolio manager Nick Little and the wider UK team.
