BlackRock's Prentis to retire as Arnold steps up

New chairman for small-cap trust

BlackRock's Mike Prentis, manager of the Smaller Companies trust (BRSC), is to retire after 14 years with the firm.

Roland Arnold, who was appointed co-manager of BRSC in April 2018, will assume full control of the trust following Prentis' departure. Arnold has worked closely with Prentis on BRSC for a number of years and will continue to be supported by the UK small and mid-cap team, led by Dan Whitestone.  Arnold has also been co-manager of the BlackRock UK Special Situations fund since August 2012 and sole manager of the Blackrock UK Smaller Companies fund since March 2015.
