Gosling's Grouse - Barnes' comment is an own goal

"I don't need a financial adviser because I don't have any money to invest," is apparently something the ex-footballer John Barnes said in an interview last year.

Of course, football fans will know he recently filed for bankruptcy, after losing his £200,000 a year job as manager of Tranmere Rovers, so maybe he did need a financial adviser! Now I don’t want to take the mickey too much other than to say it is funny how people involved in football always seems to have tax problems. But more importantly, don’t Barnes’ comments say more about the perception of ‘financial advisers’ than anything else? Except perhaps his abilities to manage his finances adequately?
