I had to smile. Just as I was sitting down to write this, the FSA announced it was going to clamp down on irresponsible mortgage and loan lending by the banks.
Here are a few thoughts: a bit bloody late for one thing; second, will it make any difference? of course not; and third, did crap personal lending to people on five times self-cert salaries or dishing out credit cards to students on gap years like my daughter bring us to the edge of meltdown? Of course it didn’t. So, the fact a Conservative Government would get rid of the FSA if it wins the next election sounds like a decent idea to me – assuming they have something better to replace it with.
