Who would be an adviser? Not me for sure. It is much easier sitting writing this column watching the transfer news on Sky Sports. Whoever said blokes can't multi-task?

But more to the point. It is not transfers but top-ups that are exercising me – Isa top-ups. One of the more off-the-wall initiatives to come out of the last Budget was the Government’s idea to allow those aged 50 and over to top up from Isas by an extra couple of grand from next month.
