For the year ahead, I think everyone's desire would be for a fund manager to be able to state exactly what is going to happen over the next 12 months and exactly how they think their portfolio is positioned to benefit from that.
Our ambition is completely different. We expect a number of different scenarios to unroll over the next 12 months, particularly during these times when we are living through a great financial experiment. This experiment could result in lots of unintended consequences: inflation; deflation; all sorts of terrible economic outlooks such as recession, depression, rioting on the streets, revolution, perhaps the odd currency crisis?
