Think of light entertainment on the wireless, and The Archers or Desert Island Discs probably springs to mind well before convertible bond arbitrage and volatility trading.

However, asset managers involved in those areas – alternative strategies, that is – are increasingly taking to the airwaves to speak directly to investors, rather than relying on intermediaries to relay their message. They are also cementing listener communities within their own industries by doing so, of course.
