In 1977, Steven Spielberg directed Close Encounters of the Third Kind. The movie offered a sympathetic portrayal of a rendezvous with aliens and a subtext that swiped at government intervention.
It was shot in several locations including Alabama, California, and Wyoming. Fast-forward 34 years, and we recently found ourselves in Wyoming again, this time in Jackson Hole, for a less than beguiling production – Close Encounters of the (QE) III Kind, with its high levels of anticipation and, arguably, even more quizzical goings-on.
