The bloke who cuts my hair lives in a mansion. Now you might find it hard to believe that anyone who does this can afford a flat, let alone a mansion, judging by my grainy picture and my lack of hair.

Of course it has taken him 60 years to afford said mansion, and when he moved into his house it was anything but a mansion, it was just all he could afford at the time. My barber, because that is his trade, came to the UK from Cyprus in the early 1950s and was so skint he had three jobs to pay the rent and save up enough for his wife to come over. When he bought his house and his tiny little shop it was because both he and his wife were working all the hours sent to make a living, and it was in an area of North London which is not quite as desirable as it is these days.
