Ok, I admit it. I lost it a bit last week ranting about ‘outcomes' but I think most people got where I was coming from - and I do not apologise, although my thanks to a colleague who took out all the expletives.
The invective was prompted by seeing a short video with someone prominent within the industry trying to explain RDR to the general public. No mean challenge for anyone, no matter how gifted a communicator they might be. But this industry luminary must have uttered the word ‘outcome’ six or seven times in less than two minutes. It almost sounded like brainwashing – or more accurately like everyone in the industry is chanting a mantra for fear of upsetting the regulator. It surely cannot be democracy if we cannot criticise robustly in public the current regulatory system? Without criticis...
