All hail GARS. Standard Life Investments' absolute return strategy is turning into one of the greatest success stories of the last decade for the investment community.
It continues to rake in vast amounts of money (AUM was £11bn the last time I looked) whilst its many competitors look on in envy. Crucially, that success is not a flash in the pan as the GARS approach has been many years in the making. It is worth dwelling on why GARS has been so successful to see what it tells us about our new world of investing – and the future for asset management.
