I realise the idea of being bullish about the UK economy is really rather unBritish. A dismal kind of cynicism has settled over the country, with talk of inevitable decline coming to the fore. One can imagine international economists brushing away a thin patina of uniquely British grey dust as they open up our national books in the vain hope of spotting some fleeting signs of economic growth.
