I cannot contain myself. I am so excited. After months of waiting it is finally upon us. No, not the World Cup, the launch of Woodford Investment Management (WIM).
I am struck that, in our little world, WIM’s market debut has taken on almost messianic proportions. It feels akin to the launch of a new iPhone in the days when people got excited about such things, and geeks queued for days outside the Apple store to get their hands on one first. With Woodford, the first adverts appeared with his picture on even before the business had officially launched. And just as Apple did not have to spend a bean promoting the iPhone, so WIM has needed to spend little on advertising, because every discount broker and platform in town has done it for him. ...
