The Scottish devolution vote is a much broader one about how we shift the economy of the UK from being dominated by London and the South East.
It will frankly be something of a relief when the Scottish referendum vote is concluded, as even the announcement of a second royal baby did not manage to dislodge it from the news schedules. I am obviously writing this ahead of the result, but I will stick my neck out and suggest the ‘No’ campaign wins by a tiny margin, leaving both sides to claim some form of victory. In doing so, it will mean the issue has not quite gone away and, given the tenacity of Alex Salmond, he will carry on banging the drum in one form or another.
