John Lewis' managing director found himself in hot water recently when he launched a tirade against France during an after-dinner speech.
Feeling disgruntled after a delayed Eurostar journey, Andy Street slammed the country as “sclerotic, hopeless, and downbeat”, and advised businesses with assets in France to “get them out quickly”. He concluded with the statement: “France is finished”, which caused uproar when various news outlets began to report it, leading Street to later issue an apology.
