The flurry of big name manager moves this year, and subsequent movement in flows, has brought into focus once more the importance of diversification.
The pace of the moves is such that analysts at Numis attributed last month’s record £873m outflow for the IMA UK All Companies sector almost solely down to manager exits. The firm pointed to the departures of Schroders’ Julie Dean, IP’s Neil Woodford, and Threadneedle’s Simon Brazier in particular. Certainly, some assets will find their way to the same manager at their new home.
