Ed Legget's decision to leave Standard Life Investments (SLI) for a new role at Artemis takes place as both businesses arrive at a major crossroads.
For Artemis, the announcement of Legget's hire comes a year after the arrival of former Threadneedle US manager Cormac Weldon, another big name in the UK retail space. The firm's partnership structure is clearly a strong draw for talent as it positions itself for a new phase of growth. Equally significant is the move in the other direction: Tim Steer's retirement on 31 December means he will be the first partner to depart Artemis since the expiry of a five-year lock-in period earlier this year.
