Gosling's Grouse: Meaningless T&Cs are only denting industry's reputation

I am starting a one-man campaign against terms and conditions - not just in financial services, but in life in general.

Why do we have them? Are they in the interests of the customer or just the companies issuing them? Too often, T&Cs are not there to 'protect' the customer, but to confuse the poor punter and, in some cases, downright mislead them. I would almost go so far as to say they are there to defraud the customer and try saving the company from fulfilling a basic obligation of treating customers fairly.
