Liontrust micro-cap team: Five stocks to exploit the UK digital economy

With the growth of the 'digital economy' likely to see both winners and losers at the corporate level, Victoria Stevens and Matt Tonge of the Liontrust UK Micro Cap Fund pick five stocks they think can exploit the digital opportunity.

Stevens and Tonge are fund managers in Liontrust's economic advantage team, headed up by Anthony Cross and Julian Fosh, which aims to invest in companies with sustainable intangible barriers to competition, such as intellectual property, strong distribution networks and high contracted recurring income. They said a distinguishing factor between those companies capable of exploiting the digital opportunity and those that are instead weakened by new market entrants, is a pre-existing barrier to competition.
