As a fully paid-up member of the evil metropolitan overlord class - aka the 'liberal-left media elite' - I have always been a tad amused by the absence of a second line of attack, namely we are all unnecessarily cynical.
I know a great many journalists who are fairly conservative, whereas I know of virtually no respected, sensible investment journalist who is not a complete out and out cynic. So, it was against this background just a few months ago that I received an email from a fund manager about India. I had wanted to write something about India and implored the always charming David Cornell at Ocean Dial to drop me a line about future "catalysts" - preferably of the positive sort. Almost immediately, David emailed back saying 'demonetisation' might be a cracking buy signal. Oh, how I scoffed ...
