When you hear the word 'diversity' in the workplace, what comes to mind? Do you think the world has gone mad in an HR-kind of way?
Or maybe you think of the BBC's W1A, where the characters have job titles such as 'head of values'. And even in real life you meet people who are called 'head of people'. I have to say my favourite job title at present is 'head of talent identification'. To my mind, this is a contradiction in terms. Does it mean prior to this they only recruited untalented people? Or just any old person? While the language and job titles around diversity are arguably a bit clumsy, the debate is fundamentally an important one in terms of the development and growth of a business.
