"I am a work horse, not a show pony" was a great response from Ruth Davidson, leader of the Conservative Party in Scotland, at our Gender Summit in Edinburgh last month.
Ruth was commenting on the tendency of some media outlets to focus more on what she wears than the content of her opinions, an ignominy not shared by her male peers. It is one of the more visceral examples of how differently men and women are judged in their careers.
