Columbia Threadneedle veteran Barrie Whitman to retire

New head of high yield

Columbia Threadneedle Investments' Barrie Whitman is to retire at the end of the year after 20 years at the firm and 30 years in the industry.

The head of high yield, EMEA, will be succeded by Roman Gaiser who rejoined Columbia Threadneedle in July 2018 from Pictet Asset Management, where he was also head of high yield and ran several European high yield funds. Gaiser previously worked with Whitman at Columbia Threadneedle as a portfolio manager in the European high yield team between 2005 and 2011. Threadneedle's Whitman to hand over European High Yield to Poole Whitman will remain at the firm until the end of the year to handover to Gaiser and support the high yield team.
