Faith in platform best-buy lists decreases

The liquidity crisis at Woodford Investment Management has negatively impacted private investors' trust in the asset management industry, according to a survey.

Almost three-quarters (74%) of private investors said news of the gating of the Woodford Equity Income fund (WEIF) in June after continued outflows had made them trust the industry less. Market intelligence provider Research in Finance surveyed 307 private investors for its maiden Private Investor Pulse Survey. Almost half of the respondents (41%) said they were currently, or had previously been, invested in a fund provided by Woodford IM. A third (32%) said they had been impacted by the suspension of WEIF.
