Investment Association launches plan to tackle 'class ceiling'

Report urges firms to 'recruit for potential rather than polish'

The Investment Association (IA) has published a report, 'Tackling the Class Ceiling', which sets out five recommendations aimed at encouraging investment managers to promote social mobility.

The new report, which coincides with National Inclusion Week, has called on investment management firms to end bias in recruitment and to commit to mobility in the workplace in order to attract and retain individuals from different classes and socio-economic backgrounds. Another of the recommendations in the report is to move away from only considering degree qualifications and to take account of other qualifications and life experiences during the recruitment process.
