Vanguard has launched an active UK equity income fund under the sub-advisory of external management from Baillie Gifford and Marathon Asset Management.
The Vanguard Active UK Equity fund will blend the investment styles of both management teams with the intention of outperforming the FTSE All-Share index over more than five years. Vanguard chairman McNabb to step down Marathon and Baillie Gifford will manage 50% of assets each respectively. Vanguard said Marathon will "look to identify UK companies that benefit from the flow of investments in and out of UK industries", while Baillie Gifford will identify "companies with growth potential, through in depth research".
