Philip Hammond has taken up a role on the board of an Irish packaging maker just a week after announcing his resignation from Parliament.
The former Chancellor will not stand for re-election as an MP after 22 years in the House of Commons, and has announced plans to join the board of glass bottle maker Ardagh as a non-executive director and serve on its audit committee. According to The Telegraph, Ardagh, which is headquartered in Dublin and listed in New York, is worth £3.5bn and is understood to pay its non-executives between £125,000 and £135,000 per annum, though the firm has not confirmed how much it will pay Hammond.
