Psigma Investment Management is looking at investing in a sustainable equity fund for the first time since around 2006, as CIO Tom Becket claimed the ESG theme was “now probably investable for the first time in my investment career”.
Becket said Psigma was finalising its due diligence on the Investec Global Environment fund, run by Deidre Cooper, which he sees as "an efficient way to exploit the economic efficiencies being created in alternative energy and other environmentally focused sectors". Becket noted that the firm is wary of valuations in some environmental areas, but sees other areas that have been "left behind" despite being able to tap into the secular long-term trend towards the theme.
