Investment companies raised £6.7bn in the first half of 2021, marking a record high and 123% growth on the same period last year.
Secondary issuance was significantly more popular, making up 84% of the total figure, according to the report from Numis. There were five IPOs with a focus on alternative asset classes including shipping, digital infrastructure and energy transition. Substantial corporate changes for one in two trusts since onset of pandemic Early 2021 was strong for the market and the first three IPOs raised, on average, £300m, which "puts them on the radar of a wider range of investors", the report said.
