River and Mercantile extends AssetCo takeover deadline by another week

The board of River and Mercantile Group has extended the deadline by which AssetCo must confirm or withdraw its takeover bid to 25 January 2022.

This delay has granted AssetCo an extra week to announce a "firm intention to make an offer for RMG" or to announce that it "does not intend to make an offer". An announcement is now due by 5pm next Tuesday. River and Mercantile proposes £180m payout for shareholders after Schroders sale The board of AssetCo still believes the two business are "highly complementary" and that a combination of the two firms would create "significant value for the combined group's clients, portfolio managers, employees and shareholders".
