Fund manager of Tufton Oceanic Assets appoints CIO as Paulo Almeida steps down

Tufton, the investment manager of the Tufton Oceanic Assets (SHIP) trust, has named Nicolas Tirogalas as its new chief investment officer, after Paulo Almeida stepped down from the role.

Almeida joined the asset manager in 2009 as portfolio manager and has held the role of CIO since January 2020. The firm said today (14 November) that he intended to spend more time with his family and on part-time interests, including private investments and non-profit work. Tirogalas has focused on the shipping and offshore industries for the last 15 years. Most recently, he worked for North American and European financial institutions and investment managers with their maritime investments in a consultancy capacity.
