Chancellor Jeremy Hunt has reportedly indicated he would like to implement further tax reductions in the months ahead, leaving the door open to the possibility of unveiling two Budgets before the upcoming general election.
According to an FT report, Hunt said on Thursday (18 January) that although he does not yet have the economic and fiscal projections necessary to shape his March Budget, he argued economies with lower taxes are "more dynamic and more competitive". The chancellor added that whether the government will also deliver an Autumn Statement or not this year will depend on the timing of the general election set by Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.
